the lion's club put together a trip for our weekend so that we could see more of the beautiful country we were helping. being august, it was winter in chile. we were told that the mountainside where we were going would be extremely cold since it was higher elevation. i truely dressed for the occasion. i wore jeans underneath some sports pants (was i ever THAT skinny?!), my long sleeved shirt, my short sleeved shirt, my hoodie, my coat, and my beanie...and because i didn't care...i brought a new, extra pair of socks to use as gloves, should i need them. the ride to the mine (the second largest copper mine in the world!) was a long one...about two hours. well, most of us took naps, or tried to watch the movie that was on in our very nice charter bus. george and i could do none of that. we decided to make sock puppets with my sock gloves!!
